Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2018 George Ridley Mixed Pairs Competition
Today (Saturday 2 June) saw history made when Andy Hamman and Julie Green successfully defended their George Ridley Mixed Pairs Trophy to become the first pair in the competitions 10-year history to win the event twice.

In the final they beat Amanda Ridley and Tom Mainwaring 21 – 14. Andy and Julie had raced into a 13 – 3 lead only for Tom to lead the jack out at 13 across. Then Andy produced a “wonder” bowl to win the end and they broke out again to seal a deserved victory.

In the semi-finals Andy and Julie had beaten Dave McDermott and Julie Gardner in a pulsating semi-final while Amanda and Tom had beaten Dave Phillips and Carol Howarth.

The George Ridley Mixed Pairs Competition continues to go from strength to strength but its success would not be possible without the efforts of so many people. The committee wish to extend its sincere thanks to the following people … Card markers Maureen Morgan, Charlotte Hough, Emily Gowen and Janet Hargreaves. Referees Neil Williams, Ben Phillips and Cathy Wall and our kitchen staff Christine Williams, Tracy and Jemimah McGuigan, Lynne and Lorna Ridley, Liam Cormican and Margaret Bentley. Last but by no means least name card sellers Mike Geraghty and Amanda Ridley.

Finally, thanks to all the players for supporting the competition and we hope to see you all again in 2019.
